Ask me where I am....and I'll say, "I'm exactly where I want, and need to be." :-)

So how did I end up getting a gig as a reporter for a local community newspaper? And why did I even take on such a task?

I recall that my first and second weeks of completing assignments were interesting to me. I was given the tasks of attending a health awareness event, and speaking with the coaches of a local youth baseball team, and then writing about the experiences.

One of the first rules of news writing is that no first person references are used to tell the story. Well, this is a little bit of a challenge, since I've only really done lifestyle writing.

My editor called me into his office, looked me straight in the eye and said, "This is not a blog. This is news."

So there I was, learning the art and discipline of news reporting. Today it's a story. Tomorrow it's history.

The Chronicles of KeiKei Green tells the story of a young professional woman learning the ropes of journalism in the urban community.
